built for working actors

The scene partner
that actually listens

Upload sides and start. OnBook follows you word-for-word and cues the reader automatically, so scenes stay alive, not laggy.

Launching soon on iPhone and iPad.

the old way

Begging your roommate.

Waiting for a text back.

Laggy video calls.

Pressing start and stop.

Feeling awkward.

Or.

what it does

Everything you need to rehearse.

scene 1 — the voice

A partner that actually listens.

It comes in on time. Waits when you pause. Stays with you. Use built-in voices, record your own, or send a link so a friend can record theirs. One recording, unlimited takes.

scene 2 — the binder

From PDF to practice in seconds.

Upload your sides and OnBook parses characters and lines automatically. No manual typing. Just drop in a PDF and start rehearsing.

scene 3 — the tape

Built for self-tapes.

Use OnBook as the reader on a second device while you record. Place it slightly off-lens for a natural eyeline. Glance when you need it — the page follows your voice so you never lose your place.

scene 4 — the drill

Get off-book faster.

Drill your lines with blurred text and first-letter hints to test your memory. After each run, Line Check compares what you said against the script so you catch every missed word.

when it matters

act I

The audition is tomorrow.

From PDF to reader in 30 seconds. Nail your audition on the first take.

act II

Booked the job?

Upload full production scripts and run your lines in the trailer, on the commute, or in the makeup chair. Works in the background too — scroll your sides when the scene becomes second nature.

act III

Ready for the next one.

Every project saved. Every script ready to revisit. Rehearse offline, on your schedule — the partner that's always ready.

overheard

I stopped asking my partner to read for me. This does a better job and works whenever I need it.

I had a week to memorize a play where I was onstage for 90 minutes. This app was a lifesaver. I used it before each show to practice and feel confident before getting on stage.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I get OnBook?

OnBook is launching soon on iPhone and iPad. Get notified and we'll email you when it goes live on the App Store.

Will my scripts be private?

Your rehearsal material is treated as private and handled with security controls built for sensitive audition workflows. Speech recognition runs on-device, fast and private.

How can I use OnBook for my self-tapes?

Use OnBook as the reader on a second device while you record video in your camera app or normal setup. It does not record video itself. Use your own recorded reader voice with tone adjustment, or use a friend's recorded voice, so you do not need another person in the room. For most self tapes, place OnBook slightly off-lens for a natural eyeline. No other person needed in the room.

Can I rehearse offline?

Yes. OnBook works offline. Unlike some alternatives, your speech is processed 100% on your device for faster response and stronger reliability.

What languages are supported?

OnBook currently supports English. We're actively working on adding more languages.

What does the reader sound like?

For instant practice, use the on-device voice. For self-tapes, you can record the reader lines yourself or invite a friend to record from their own device.
